Adriana Mercado<br>Adscritos al Departamento de Bioqu\u00edmica<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los cotransportadores electroneutros (CEN) son prote\u00ednas de membrana esenciales en el movimiento de iones a trav\u00e9s de la membrana celular, que se realiza sin generar un cambio en su carga el\u00e9ctrica. Son prote\u00ednas cruciales en la regulaci\u00f3n del volumen celular, el mantenimiento de la concentraci\u00f3n intracelular del cloruro y el transporte i\u00f3nico transepitelial, por lo que son importantes para promover la maduraci\u00f3n neuronal y facilitar el equilibrio de uidos y electrolitos en \u00f3rganos clave, como los ri\u00f1ones y el cerebro. Defectos en estos cotransportadores est\u00e1n asociados con diversas enfermedades como la hipertensi\u00f3n arterial, el c\u00e1ncer y trastornos del neurodesarrollo, como la epilepsia y el autismo, entre otros<sup>1,2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los cotransportadores electroneutros pertenecen a la superfamilia g\u00e9nica SLC12A y son prote\u00ednas de membrana involucradas en el movimiento de sodio y\/o potasio acoplado a cloruro. Esta superfamilia est\u00e1 compuesta por siete genes que comparten un 25% de identidad y se subdividen en dos ramas principales.
